The Health Resource Center at Island Hospital is a welcoming space where patients and visitors can come to get connected to the resources they need. Your support, through the Island Hospital Foundation, makes it possible for us to provide customized resources to help individuals and families make informed decisions about their healthcare. We are proud to offer a wide range of resources to enhance our community’s well-being.
The HRC is a great place to get connected to social services and community resources for all ages. Stop in to learn about transportation options, caregiving services, treatment facilities, subsidy programs, Medicare insurance and much more. If you are new to the area, our center is a great place to learn about primary care physicians, as well as medical services and support programs at Island Hospital. Beyond primary care, we are happy to assist visitors with finding specialty care for targeted health concerns.
Island Hospital’s Community Education program shines as a significant resource for our community offering a diverse assortment of wellness classes and health screenings – and all are low cost or no cost – as a benefit to the public! Individuals can register for classes and screenings by telephone, in person, or online by visiting, www.islandhosptial.org/classes. Community members repeatedly express their gratitude for these classes and screenings as it is truly a unique model.
“We see thousands of community members and visitors each year seeking resources, screenings or other services,” states Dennis Richards, Director of Community Relations at Island Hospital. “Many hospitals tried this model over the past two decades but closed them due to financial challenges. Because of the Island Hospital Foundation, we are able to maintain and upgrade so we can help our community navigate today’s healthcare environment.”
One of the most current improvements to the Health Resource Center is our newly remodeled public resource space. Our goal is to create a quiet and friendly environment to discuss important matters such as Advance Directives and Vial of Life. We offer complimentary guiding on how to complete the Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare and Living Will documents. Walk-ins are welcome to take advantage of this service.
