The Island Health Foundation Board of Directors is proud to announce the launch of a new Capital Campaign dedicated to enhancing patient care at Island Health. This important initiative will support critical upgrades to the 25 inpatient rooms in the hospital’s Acute Care Unit (ACU) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
With a campaign goal of $1.6 million, the project will renovate and modernize all 25 rooms—improving safety, comfort, and technology while creating quieter, more welcoming environments for patients, families, and caregivers. Construction is expected to take just over one year, with completion anticipated in 2027.

For more than two decades, the inpatient rooms at Island Health have supported our community through moments of healing, uncertainty, and hope. While they have served patients well, the delivery of care has evolved—and the spaces where care happens must evolve too.
This transformation goes far beyond fresh paint. Renovated rooms will feature advanced technology, including integrated digital displays, telehealth access, and personalized lighting and temperature controls. Each space will be thoughtfully designed to create a patient-centered environment that supports healing, dignity, and comfort. Just as importantly, the upgrades will better support caregivers. Enhanced monitoring, integrated technology, and smart safety features will allow physicians, nurses, and care teams to anticipate needs sooner and respond more quickly—spending more time at the bedside where it matters most. At a time when our community is aging and care needs are growing more complex, this campaign reflects Island Health Foundation’s continued commitment to providing exceptional, compassionate care close to
home.
Funds raised through the 23rd Annual Gala of Hope – The Heart of Healing, taking place Saturday, April 25 at the Swinomish Casino & Lodge, will support this meaningful transformation. The evening serves as a love letter to our patients—a celebration of generosity, gratitude, and shared
commitment to health and healing.
This is our promise to you:
that we see you,
that we are investing in you,
and that your health and healing matter most.
